I must admit that I was unaware of this risk, but when I thought about it I had to concede that it is just as potentially harmful as doing anything else in sunlight without any sunscreen on, a bit like the risk to the health of non smokers who were in the company of people smoking, which has only been recognized fairly recently.
Thank goodness for the smoking ban,which has made public places so much more enjoyable (and safer!)
